Recipe: TCM beauty stew 美容汤
Ever since I can remember, this comforting sweet stew was always on the monthly menu rotation of my mother's and grandmother’s kitchen. I have gotten many requests for this recipe. Finally, I have a place to share with you the joy and comfort of ancestral cooking. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
Snow fungus 银耳
Lotus seeds 莲子
Longan 桂圆
Lily bulbs 百合
Red dates 红枣
Rock Sugar 冰糖
Goji berries 枸杞子
Recipe:
First, soak the lotus seeds in warm water for 3 hours until they become soft and can be easily crushed with your fingers. After soaking, the silver ear mushrooms will look like fluffy clouds. Tear them into small pieces, and don't forget to discard the hard roots. Separate the fresh lily bulbs and remove any yellow edges.
Slowly simmer to bring out the gelatinous texture: Place the lotus seeds, snow fungus, and water in a pot, bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat and continue simmering for 40 minutes. Watch as the snow fungus gradually releases its sticky gelatinous substance, resembling melted jelly, filling the entire kitchen with a sweet aroma.
Add the lily bulbs, simmer for another 10 minutes, then add some rock sugar to taste. Turn off the heat and let it steep for 5 minutes. Take a spoonful and savor the tender lotus seeds, smooth silver ear fungus, and sweet lily bulbs; it’s like a soothing balm for your throat! After drinking it, you’ll feel like your skin is quenching its thirst ;)
